/ / / gorgeous vintage Turkoman Ersari rug with rich earthy colors and a simple geometric design in the field- she’s a special beauty! The design in these Ersari rugs are sometimes referred to as “elephant prints” for obvious reasons, and in many cultures, elephants are considered lucky. This rug is on the lightweight side, and will definitely need a rug pad, and is recommended for areas with lighter traffic. I love thinking about the history of old rugs-where in the world have they been? What homes have they lived in? There is a certain romance and mystery to these hand knotted pieces of art.

/ / / condition: good vintage condition. This rug has low to zero pile in many places. This rug has many areas of repairs and re-piling, as pointed out in the photos. This rug has been professionally restored and the headends secured, ensuring many, many more years of life. I highly recommend using rug pad with grip backing to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles from shipping-using a rug pad will also protect your rug from damage, and therefore prolong the life of your rug. But really- get a rug pad! I have handpicked this rug specifically for its rustic, timeworn appeal. It may have other small imperfections- which is part of the charm of these old textiles. I want you to love your rug! Please look at the photos carefully and ask any and all questions before purchasing, as all sales are final. This rug has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

/ / / pile: low/zero in most places

/ / / weight: light/medium (rug pad necessary)

/ / / colors: shades of oxblood, faded brick, garnet, carmine, old rose, faded salmon, indigo, faded blue, deep espresso, dusty lavender, rust, lake

/ / / The lighting conditions in the Experimental Vintage studio where these photos are taken are as follows: good natural light coming from a wall of large, east-facing windows on a cloudy Portland day. This rug may look darker or brighter in your own space, depending on the natural lighting conditions in your home.
