/ / / gorgeous hand knotted vintage Afghan Kazak rug- we always love a rug with a large scale motif, and this beauty is no exception. Large blooms throughout, with a chunky border giving this rug a modern feel. She’s velvety soft too! I love thinking about the history of old rugs-where in the world have they been? What homes have they lived in? There is a certain romance and mystery to these hand knotted pieces of art.
/ / / condition: very good vintage condition. This rug has a slight taper, all-over ombre fade and some expertly done re-piling repair work as shown, priced accordingly. It has been professionally cleaned, restored and the headends secured, ensuring many, many more years of life. I highly recommend using rug pad with grip backing to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles from shipping-using a rug pad will also protect your rug from damage, and therefore prolong the life of your rug. But really- get a rug pad! I have handpicked this rug specifically for its rustic, timeworn appeal. It may have other small imperfections- which is part of the charm of these old textiles.
/ / / pile: low/velvety
/ / / pile height: 3/8"
/ / / weight: medium/heavy (rug pad recommended)
/ / / colors: shades of salmon pink, tulip, rose, denim, sly blue, terra cotta, cappuccino, bone
/ / / The lighting conditions in the Experimental Vintage studio where these photos are taken are as follows: good natural light coming from a wall of large, south-facing windows on a cloudy Portland day. This rug may look darker or brighter in your own space, depending on the natural lighting conditions in your home.
