antique mother and child painting

$368.00
sold out

This very special oil painting is likely from the late 1800’s early 1900’s. We were lucky enough to have 3 pieces by this same artist. They were all painted on corrugated or pleated cardboard, the earliest cardboard dates back to 1856. This piece depicts a mother and child posed together. We love the colors and story this small collection of art tells and were so excited to have found vintage frames for all 3 pieces…

measures approx. 23” x 17.5”

oil on early cardboard, framed without glass, by us in a vintage frame

(not signed/unmarked)

*** condition notes: This piece is in good antique condition. Painted on very early cardboard there is rippling from the pleated paper more prominent in certain light, a hidden #5 reflects in the top left of the painting as it was printed under the painting. Subtle cracks on the paint due to its age may be noticed, frame also has normal vintage wear, please see photos for details. We see all of these imperfections as beauty and love the story they tell of this very old piece…

Additional imperfections and natural signs of age, including but not limited to: pin holes, tape marks, small tears or rounded edges. We do our very best to include these types of wear in our photographs. Please review photos closely. Items used in photographs such as clips, clipboards and other items are not included or for sale.
